About the Natural Hazards Science Hub

Welcome to the Natural Hazards Science Hub – an interactive space for the community and stakeholders to explore information and engage with us about datasets generated from natural hazards related projects, monitoring and research.

Work to increase the number and variety of datasets published to SEED and the Natural Hazards Science Hub will be ongoing as part of our commitment to providing open data that supports innovation and collaboration for better environmental outcomes for New South Wales.

Who we are

The Natural Hazards Hub is administered by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

The Department works with communities, universities, businesses and our partner government departments and agencies to protect, preserve and strengthen our natural environment and heritage. We do this through active stewardship that supports a healthy New South Wales.

Environment and Heritage is responsible for delivering the state outcome 'connecting communities to resilient and sustainable environments and heritage'. We deliver this by collaborating across a range of functions, including national park management; biodiversity, conservation and science; and heritage conservation.

We are pleased to support connecting communities and stakeholders to some of this work through the provision of open data in the Natural Hazards Hub.

Using the Natural Hazards Science Hub

The datasets in the Natural Hazards Science Hub are displayed from the SEED portal.  The Natural Hazards Science Hub offers a central location to discover the department’s natural hazards data, latest monitoring reports and to interact with others about its uses.

You do not need to create an account or log in to access the data however, we encourage you to create an account so you can participate in the forum and receive notifications from the Hub if you wish.

You can enable forum notifications for threads that you post or follow and comments that are made on threads that you have interacted with. You can also create notifications to alert you when any new datasets are added. To do this, enable the General notification option in your notifications settings.
